Matthew 5:44 NIV
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.
Its easier for us to be like our enemies and wish ill on them the way they do us. That’s what the world teaches us; take matters into our own hands. It’s not our job to seek vengeance and to provide our brand of judgement on folks. It’s God right to execute his will on our lives. Additionally, the bible tells us to treat others the way we want to be treated and to love thy neighbor and other portions of the bible as a reoccurring directive. If we are focused on hating our enemies it likely means we are distracted from doing God’s work. Praying for them instead keeps our focus on God, gives him deference to deal with them, and keeps us in a better state of mind.
