Luke 12:22-23 NIV
Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.
We need to think and live beyond our fleshly and bodily needs. First off, if we live solely focusing on the flesh, we will get are bodily needs met. However, when the flesh wants to guide us to sin and act against God that will get us in trouble. If we get hung up what the bodies wants, we may be easily coerced into eating too much or fornicate because we want to please the body’s desires. Also, if were focused on our life too much we likely care about our status compared to others and folks’ opinions which has nothing to do with God being glorified. In short, the Bible warns us not to be stuck on our lives and bodily needs because they aren’t that important. Think about it, we can be full of food and fully clothed yet still want to kill ourselves and be miserable. We can also be famous, successful, and a celebrity and still be empty and unfulfilled inside. Conquering our earthly life and meeting all our bodily needs won’t bring us lastly happiness and satisfaction. On another level this scripture is saying that life is more than what we can see. What really matters is what’s inside us. Are we saved? Are we obeying God and advancing his kingdom? We must trade the visible for the invisible.
